New 3-story addition to a senior assisted living facility constructed at 204 South State Street, Elgin, Illinois.

The original 1904 structure overlooking the Fox River contained 17,500 square feet of assisted living space. The exterior of the 25,000 square foot addition was designed by Harris Architects to match that of the historical grand façade. Construction began in June 1999 and concluded in August 2000.

The interior includes a separate lobby entry for the atrium apartments, a front parlor, a grand room with 2-story atrium and fireplace, and adjoining courtyard patio. The atrium apartments include a 42-bed senior independent living facility.

All programs and services were able to continue throughout the construction without disruption to the residents and staff.

Oak Crest Residence is a non-profit organization offering assisted living residential care, respite care, day care for older adults and independent living within the Atrium Apartments.
